SEDGEFIELD DURING THE FIRST WORLD WAR

SEDGEFIELD DURING THE FIRST WORLD WAR

2018 saw a few projects that commemorated the centenary of the end of WW1. One such project that I particularly enjoyed was the design and artwork for Alison Hodgson’s fascinating book, Sedgefield During the First World War, How Life at Home Was Affected by the Conflict.

Amongst other local groups and committees, Alison is a member of Sedgefield Local History Society and the author of a previous book, Sedgefield in Victorian Times. Intended as a companion set, I endeavoured to match the style, look and feel of the first book that had been created by HPM in Newton Aycliffe.

Generously illustrated with images from Alison’s archive and the image bank of Sedgefield Local History Society, the book is a wonderfully-written tribute to the people of Sedgefield and their experience of the WW1 years, 1914-1918.

The book is priced at £6 and is available by calling her on 01740 620912 or from Sedgefield Council Offices, the Post Office, St. Edmund’s Church and Hardwick Park visitor centre.
